Scholarships & Financial Aid
Since 2002, financial circumstances have never been a reason to turn away a child who belongs at Axel. We offer three scholarship tracks and a discretionary hardship fund.
Our scholarship programmes
Each scholarship is renewable annually subject to the criteria listed. Applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee each March.
Academic Excellence Scholarship
Awarded to students with exceptional academic records joining Class VI, IX or XI. Covers 25–100% of annual tuition depending on performance.
Eligibility: 90% or above in the previous year's final examination or equivalent board result.
Renewal: Maintained if the student scores 85% or above each year at Axel.
Value: 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% tuition waiver, awarded on a sliding scale.
Financial Hardship Bursary
For families who cannot meet the full fee requirement but whose child has the aptitude and will to thrive at Axel. Assessed entirely on family financial circumstances.
Eligibility: Annual family income below ₹4,00,000. Supported by income certificate and supporting documents.
Renewal: Annual re-assessment of family income and school performance.
Value: Up to 75% tuition waiver. Boarding fee support available in exceptional cases.
Sports Excellence Grant
For student-athletes who have represented their district, state or country. Axel has produced national-level cricketers, swimmers and archers — we invest in the next generation.
Eligibility: District-level or above representation in a recognised sport within the last 24 months.
Renewal: Continued participation in the school's sports programme and at minimum one external competition per year.
Value: 50% tuition waiver + specialist coaching included at no additional charge.
Northeast Heritage Scholarship
A scholarship specifically for students from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Sikkim — states less served by quality boarding schools.
Eligibility: Domicile of any of the seven sister states (other than Assam). Academic performance assessed at interview.
Value: 30% boarding fee waiver for the full duration of enrolment, renewable automatically.
Renewal: Automatically renewed for the full school tenure.
Axel Alumni Child Scholarship
Children of Axel Public School alumni receive an automatic 15% discount on annual tuition as recognition of the families who have trusted us across generations.
Eligibility: One or both parents are Axel Public School graduates (verifiable by alumni records).
Value: 15% annual tuition discount, stackable with sibling discount (max 25% combined).
Renewal: Automatic for every year of enrolment.
Hardship Fund
For families who face sudden financial hardship mid-year — illness, bereavement, loss of employment. No one leaves Axel because life became difficult.
Eligibility: Any currently enrolled student whose family faces acute, documented financial hardship.
Value: Fee deferral or partial waiver as determined by the Principal on a case-by-case basis.
How to apply: Speak directly to the Principal or Registrar in confidence. No formal process required.
How to apply for a scholarship
The scholarship application is part of the main admissions process. There is no separate form.
- Indicate interest during registration On the admissions registration form, tick the scholarship interest box and select the relevant category (Academic Excellence, Financial Hardship, Sports Excellence, Northeast Heritage). You may indicate more than one.
- Gather supporting documents Depending on the scholarship, you will need: previous year mark sheets (merit), income certificate from a gazetted officer (bursary), competition certificates or selection letters (sports), or state domicile certificate (Northeast Heritage).
- Submit with your admission documents Scholarship documents are submitted alongside the standard admission documents at Step 3 of the admission process. The Scholarship Committee reviews all applications by the end of each month.
- Receive your scholarship letter Scholarship decisions are communicated in writing within 10 working days of document submission. The offer letter specifies the value of the award and renewal conditions.
