As a school in the midst of India's largest indigenous communities, we serve our multicultural region and have educated over 3,000 indigenous North Eastern students.

2006

Over two acres of land in the lush surroundings of Lokhra was converted using the help of the Karbi community to start the building blocks of the campus today.

After the initial success of Axel’s Kindergarten, we decided to upgrade to K–12 in a phased manner according to the CBSE curriculum. Axel Public School was born with just 12 students.

Our Managing Director

Mr. Prasanta Choudhury won a scholarship to study Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra in 1981. As a first-generation college graduate, he understood the value of that scholarship and turned the opportunity to study at one of India's top engineering schools into a successful career in civil services.

After serving society as an engineer in the Public Health Department of Assam for 20 years, he decided to give back to the place he came from. Today, he is the mastermind behind the infrastructure and strategy of Axel Public School.

Mr. Prasanta Choudhury, Co-founder of Axel Public School

Our Founding Principal

Ms Monti Gogoi, was a college professor who was unsatisfied with the quality of education in North East India. Her drive to make positive change led her to resign from her job and established Axel's Kindergarten. Since then, she has been the leading force behind the academic success of our institution.

She graduated with an English major honors from Cotton College and completed her Masters degree and B.Ed from Guwahati University.

School Leadership

Our Leadership Team

Vice Principal

Mr. Manab Borgohain brings years of dedicated service to Axel Public School, guiding the academic rigour and student development programmes across the senior school. As Vice Principal, he works closely with the Principal to implement CBSE curriculum standards and oversees the day-to-day administrative and academic operations of the school.

His approach to school leadership is rooted in building strong relationships between teachers, students, and families — creating an environment where every learner feels seen and supported.

Mr. Manab Borgohain, Vice Principal of Axel Public School

Headmistress, Axel’s Kindergarten

Ms. Gauri Baruah heads Axel's Kindergarten, the early years wing of the school that first opened its doors under Ms. Monti Gogoi. She brings warmth, structure, and expertise in early childhood development to every aspect of the kindergarten programme.

Under her leadership, Axel's Kindergarten provides a nurturing environment that is physically, psychologically, and socially safe — one where young children develop curiosity, confidence, and the foundational skills that carry them through school and beyond.
